EMF and EMR toxicity.

In Shaka Vansya Ayurved ( from now on SVA) they divide toxins into 4 categories. 1.AMA - or food that has not been completely digested. 2. AMAVISHA - AMA that has been around for a while and has become hot. 3. GARVISHA - toxic chemicals that are man made. 4. INDRAVAJRABHIJANYA -electric toxicity - EMF and EMR. Today I will be addressing EMF and EMR and why they create problems in your mind/body or our physiology.  Normally we gain life force from our food, water, air we breath and also directly from our environment.  You have probably had the experience or walking through a forest or sitting by the ocean and feeling that lovely enlivening energy.  In SVA we called that PRANA or Life Force. In Chinese Medicine it is called CHI.  This life force or prana is distributed through out the body via channels, thousands of channels that are not visible to the eye.  They are similar to our veins and arteries that carry out blood however they are not physically visible. However they are the bas

Clarified butter or Ghee

How to make ghee?  It is best to start with 1 pound of organic unsalted butter. It about twice the price of regular butter. Here on the Sunshine Coast I buy Avalon and its about $10/ pound   If you can find butter that comes from grass fed cows that is even better.  The best is to make your own butter from cultured whipping cream. But that is a real big procedure. So if this is the first time making ghee or the 100th time, the easiest way to is start with organic butter.  The reason it is important to pay the extra for organic butter is because many toxins are fat soluable and  you do not want to take those into your system.  If you are using 1-2 teasponful of ghee at a time the pound will last quite awhile. And the aroma and flavour of the ghee will add great flavour and increase the digestion. Have your glass jar ready and your fine metal sieve. Put a metal spoon in the jar to prevent it from cracking. Once your ghee is ready you will want to quickly sieve out the milk solids and y

Multiple Sclerosis

Dear Friends and soon to be friends, I am spending a few quiet moments reading an article in SV Ayurveda - from Sutra to Science with Vaidya Mishra. The article is written by Dr Marianne Teitelbaum, a long time student of Vaidya Mishra and an amazing healer!  The article is about cholesterol and the importance of good quality fats and how to enhance their metabolism.  All very interesting and informative.  The last paragraph of the article talks about the importance of good fat in building the myelin sheath and how one of her clients reversed her MS with her protocol. Here is the paragraph: "I have had tremendous success treating multiple sclerosis in my practice. I have identified numerous reasons why a patient might get MS - mercury, aspartame, MSG burning the myelin sheath. I remember the very first patient I treated with MS told me that hers developed after following a strict low-fat diet and doing too much aerobic exercise (which burns fat). She too had starved her nerve
Smart Water:   Boil 1 Liter good water spring water and add 1/2 - 1 teaspoonful of Coriander Fennel seed ( these are culinary herbs ) and a big pinch of Marshmallow Root (available from health food stores) and some mint leaves - 2-3 fresh or 1 teaspoonful of dry Let steep for 15 minutes - strain and keep in thermos if you like it warm or cool to room temperature and sip through out the day. Great for hydration and digestive disorders.
Hello Everyone, I am reposting  the recipe for "Smart Water" a wonderful hydrating and gentle detox tea.  I have seen a lot of success with many different imbalances that are gently corrected by this tea.  The coriander seed is supportive of the kidneys, fennel seed cools the liver which is of "hot" in AYUREVEDIC terms, meaning that is burdened and overworked by eliminating toxins, the marshmallow root is lubricating and protective of intestinal linings and the mint help to carry the other herbs to their destination. I once recommended this tea to a woman with digestive disorder manifesting as frequent bowel movements. She went down from 12 movements a day to 2 within 2 weeks. Here is the recipe: Boil 1- 2 liters of good quality spring water. Start with 1 liter and build up to 2 liters if you can drink that much in 1 day.  Add coriander, fennel, marshmallow root and mint - about 1/2 to 1 teaspoonful of the seed or dried herb. Steep for 15 minutes and keep in th

Improving my digestion

If I wanted to improve my digestion where would I start. Firstly we would look at the quality and freshness of the food and whether is was prepared with spices that support the digestive organs. What are we putting into our body? Then we would look at the receiver. the mind body or the person ingesting the food. Is the environment settled and calm when we are eating our meal. Are our meal time in tune with the rhythms of the day.  In Ayurved the digestive process is at its strongest at midday when the sun is highest in the sky. So we start our day off with a lighter meal of stewed fruit and cooked cereal. Just as when we are lighting a camp fire we start with little sticks and get the fire going then we put on the big logs. Similarly we start with light "break-fast" breaking our fast and then our midday meal would contain more substantial food that is harder to digest.  We would also include some fermented food to add beneficial bacteria by having a "lassi" which is
