Full moon and new moon

In Shaka Vansiya Ayurved - the influence of the moon and the sun on our lives is taken into consideration.   The effect of the sun is obvious in the circadian cycle of day and night.  The time when the sun is highest in the sky is the best time to digest food so it is recommended that we eat our biggest meal at this time. In early morning and later in the evening the digestive fire is less prominent and we need to eat light meals so that the undigested food (called AMA - white  sticky stuff on back of your tongue in the morning) does not clog our channels. The effect of the moon is more subtle.  Lunar energy also known as SOMA is the nourishing energy. During the time of the full moon and new moon the SOMA or lunar energy is more pronounced on the earth and all its creatures including us humans.  SVA recommends reducing or eliminating foods that are SOMAGENIC - like grains for 4 days prior to both the new moon and full moon.  Then we can directly take in the SOMA that is coming to us
