Open flow

When spring arrives both nature, and our body which is built on the same principles, start to open and flow. The cold of the winter is gone and the warmer sun starts to melt and enliven. This is the perfect time to heal and rebuild. Time for spring cleaning. The body naturally starts to eliminate the old dead tissue that is clogging all our vital channels. Both our nadis or vibrational bioenergetic channels ( knows as meridians in Chinese Medicine) and our shrotas or physical channels: arteries, lymphatic channels, and microchannels in our cell walls etc.

All these channels must be healthy and clear for toxins to flow out and nutrients to flow in. In previous postings we discussed "ama" or undigested food that is the clogging element. When we eat to much or to late at night or old left over food or food that is clogging by its very nature we create "ama". Food that are clogging are the nightshade family - potato, tomato, eggplatn and bell peppers, large beans, winter squash, soy products. When ama stays in our system for long periods of time it becomes "amavisha" or toxic old ama. These are the first two types of toxins or clogging elements that cause problems. In the spring our body starts trying to clear them out by creating the colds with all the runny noses and coughs with mucous in the chest etc. These are healing processes.

There are two other types of toxins "garvisha" which is chemical toxins which can burn our channels - they have to be eliminated very carefully as they are very different from ama. Also there are the indravajrabhijaya toxins or electromagnetic toxins. They are more vibrational and communing with Nature and listening to wonderful sounds that are healing can help with these toxins.

It is important to drink spring water that has good vibrational qualities - it has not been chlorinated and modified. Otherwise boil your water and leave it in the sun and moon for awhile. This helps to re-establish its natural vibration. Boiling your water is a good thing at anytime. All that wonderful bubbling. Once you have two litres of boiled water, add the 4 herbs - 1/2 to 1 tsp of each - coriander seed, fennel seed, marshmallow root and mint - all organic please. Let is steep for 15-20 minutes and strain it into a thermos and drink it during the day until 4 PM. This is what we call smart water. It has healed many of varied complaints.

Your diet need to include fresh veggies that are lightly cooked. I know many people say raw is the best but not according to this system of Ayurved. Some things are considered OK - like a alfalfa sprout and grated carrot salad with olive oil and lime juice and a pinch of salt. Great way to start a meal and provide enzymes to help with digestion. Also blending cilantro with olive oil, lime and salt is a great chelating agent for heavy melts. You can then have the protein of your choice. Chicken and fish are prefered unless otherwise instructed by you health care practitioner. However Ayurved does not recommend hard fermented cheeses. A bit of home made ricotta with steamed greens is easy to digest. However lasagna is never OK - heavy cheeses mixes with tomato and wheat pasta = this combination is a sure way to clog things up.

Also taking Triphala every evening before bed keeps the colon intelligent.

All for now - this gives you a good starts for spring cleaning and re-establishing the intelligence of you body.
