Digestive Disorders
Persistent Diarrhea. First lets look at the intelligence of the colon walls. They keep what the body need and then excrete what the body does not need. However at time this intelligent organ gets confused, overloaded and irritated. Let start with basics. Simple easy to digest breakfast - cooked apple with cloves. See previous entries as to the benefit of this simple and easy to digest start to the day - this gently nudges the digestive system while providing Malic Acid which cleans the liver and also cloves which has many beneficial effects on the digestion:
it promotes enzymatic flow and boost digestive functioning. They can be beneficial for gastric irritability and dyspepsia.
Cloves have even been known to treat cholera a severe disease of diarrhea: About 4 grams of cloves are boiled in 3 liters of water until half the water has evaporated. This water, taken in draughts, will check severe symptoms of the disease.
If you find that you are having watery stools you might consider starting the day with cooked apple with cloves - 1 peeled apple with 4-5 cloves cooked until soft - make this fresh every morning.
Also I have found that grains have something called "anti-nutrient factor" and that roasting the grain for 4-5 minutes before cooking reduced that ANF substancially as also does sprouting and fermenting - roasting is so easy - just put the grain in the pan you are going to use to cook it - and roast it until it turns a bit golden. My mother used to roast her buckwheat in large amounts in the oven and store it in a jar for use.
The bowel can also be irritated when we excrete toxins - via the liver and bile - this then irritate the bowel wall - causing greater peristalsis and thus diarrhea or less formed stool. Eating zucchini and other mucilaginous veggies like okra will bind the toxins and lubricate the wall of the intestinal tract.
One common suggestion is the BRAT diet - Banana, rice, apple sauce and tea. I have personally seen people diarrhea completely stop with just eating simple white basmati rice that has been overcooked - just eat that with a bit of butter and salt - not bad tasting and it seems to work like a charm. The tannic acid in strong black tea is also an astringent. The pectin in apple sauce is good for firming things up and the banana would be the last as it tend to clog and bind. So a diet of these 4 food in an emergency is excellent.
