Fall Cleanse

The change of the season is upon us. The mind/body is preparing for the shift in the laws of nature. Panchakarma is often recommended at this time. However for most of us - the ability to go to a spa/clinic for 2 weeks of Panchakarma is not always possible. Here is the alternative "Home Panchakarma" This method was developed from the Shakya Vansya Ayurved system as taught by Vaidya Rama Kant Mishra.

Just as a review - AMA - is undigested food that clogs the channels - that is the white gooey stuff at the back of your tongue that needs to be scraped off in the morning. There is also AMA Visha that is old Ama that is hot and more virulent. These are the commonly known toxins of the ancient ayurvedic texts. Now in the modern day world we are bombarded by hundreds if not thousands of chemicals - these are known as Garvisha in SVA ( Shakya Vansya Ayurved) and the fourth toxic group is the EMF's - Electro-Magnetic Frequencies. They enter the body interfering with pranic flow. These herbal and food recommendations address the first 3 categories of toxins and being with nature - in trees and near water helps to dissipate the EMF's Also mantras and other sounds that are life supporting.

So where do we start will balancing and detoxing our system. The first is setting up a good routine and not getting overwhelmed and trying to do to much. The body is naturally built to heal and re-balance. We just need to give it a bit of cooperation and support. So the poor man's panchakarma is going to bed on time. Aim for 9 PM now that it is getting dark and you will be alseep before 10PM which is when the sleeping body naturally starts to detox. If you do it for 4 days in a row you will be amazed and how much more rested you feel. From a western scientific point of view - that is when cholesterol naturally is excreted and balanced - so by going to bed early you are cooperating with the bodies natural hormonal rhythms.

BEFORE BED - TRIPHALA 2-4 TABLETS

It is best to crush and dissolve the tablets and drink the liquid. If you can remember - soak them for several hours before taking them. The Haritake herbs in the Triphala re-establish the intelligence of the colon lining. The digestive tract is not just a pipe or garden hose - it is a vital and intelligent organ. As the food and by products pass along the tract the walls of the colon and intestines are nourished and kept healthy.

UPON AWAKENING - 2 cups room temperature water or slightly warm with a bit of lime or lemon juice. Also PRAKRIT 2-4 TABLETS - that have been soaking during the night.

LIVER CLAY - Take 1 teaspoonful of liver clay in the palm of your right hand - moisten so that it is a paste and apply over the liver. (large organ on the right side of the body - call me if you don't know where it is 604-989-3408) Leave the clay on for 5 minutes - NOT ANY LONGER - OR THE TOXINS WILL COME OUT TO QUICKLY AND OVERWHELM THE ORGANS OF ELIMINATION. This is most important as the toxins can then be redeposited if not eliminated.

Shower and wash off liver clay and apply small amount of DGL (Deglycerated licorice transdermal paste over the liver)

BREAKFAST - Apple or pear cooked with 5-6 cloves. This is most important for these fruits contain malic acid which is supportive of liver detox.

LUNCH - FRESHLY PREPARED DHAL, QUINOA AND VEGGIES COOKED WITH SPICE MIX AS DESCRIBED IN PREVIOUS POSTINGS

LASSI - diluted yogurt with a pinch of dry roasted and ground cumin and a pinch of Soma Salt.

DINNER A LIGHT SOUP IS BEST

FOODS TO ELIMINATE - ALL PROCESSED FOODS AND GRAINS - YOU CAN USE QUINOA AND MILLET IF ARE HUNGRY WITHOUT GRAINS. All CAFFEINE WHITE SUGAR.

NIGHTSHADES - POTATO, TOMATO,EGGPLANT, BELL PEPPERS.
SOY PRODUCTS

SOME ADDITIONAL POINTS:

CILANTRA CHUTNEY IS RECOMMENDED FOR HEAVY METAL DETOX

1 LITRE OF HOT WATER WITH 1 TABLESPOONFUL OF CORIANDER SEED AND A PINCH OF ADJWAIN - SIP SLOWLY IN THE AFTERNOON - THIS WILL SUPPORT THE KIDNEYS.
