The colon plays a most important role in maintaining our health. It is one of the most intelligent organs in the body. The walls of the colon re-absorb water and necessary items and eliminate those that are not needed. Therefore the colon is not just a simple rubber hose - it is constantly working to maintain optimal body function.

We know it is not happy when either we are constipated or we have diarrhea. Ir even worse we get cramping and pain. It is calling for help. Some of the simple things that we can do to keep the colon happy are: 1. provide it with good quality beneficial bacteria. and 2. Make sure we have enough hydration so that it has enough water to do its work. 3. eat plenty of fruits and veggies so that there is enough fibre 4. Go for a walk so that the movement can help maintain the peristaltic action of the colon. So therefore water, exercise, fibre and good bacteria all work together to create good bowel function.

Also I have found one mineral that is very helpful if someone is constipated. Take a Magnesium capsule before bed and then upon arising drink 2 cups of warm water with a bit of lime juice. This is a wonderful way to support proper elimination.

Sometimes when the liver is eliminating a lot of toxins they can irritate the lining of the intestines and cause diarrhea - It is just the body trying to eliminate toxic irritating substances. by drinking the "smart herbal water" as in the above recipe and eating some of the toxic binding foods - this can reduce the irritation and helps to rebalance normal function.
