H1N1 reaction

Someone came into the drug store today after getting his H1N1 shot and said that the man right in front of him had a terrible reaction to the shot and collapsed on the floor like a lead balloon. I wonder if this will hit the 6 O'clock news. Hmmmm!!! There is so much being said about the contents of the vaccinations - beside chicken embryo protein which the virus needs for transmission, there is also aluminum-mercury combination and also many other untested additive. Dr. Mercola has many good article ans interviews on his site www.mercola.com My favorite is by an investigative reporter that found that many of the people with supposed H1N1 did not have H1 N1 at all - only a very small percentage actually had this famous virus. Made famous by the companies that are using the media as a marketing tool.

restless leg

Someone was asking about restless leg syndrome. The allopathic approach for restless legs is to use the same drugs that are used for parkinson's disease, Levodopa/carbidopa. Sometimes they help and sometimes they don't. These drugs work for those who are depleted in dopamine. However they work for a 10 year period and then the person is usually left in a sitaution worse than before because underlying cause of the disease was not addressed and dopamine was replaced artificially. I first saw a connection between legs and parkinson's when I was researching Parkinson's disease and found a website http://www.pdrecovery.org/ that was an online book written by a doctor of chinese medicine. She was treating many parkinson's patients and found that many of them had had a foot injury and that the liver meridians were compromized. This made me think that it was the blockage of energy flow to the legs that was creating the restless legs and that is was a neurological disorder ...

viral and bacterial infections

I have a wonderful story that was in the historical section of my pharmacology text book. It was about Louis Pasteur and his initial experiments after his discovery of the microbe. At that time in history it was anthrax that was the most feared disease, so Pasteur decided to do an experiment using 2 beakers of human urine. One sample he sterilized and the other he left with common bacteria. Today we would call these bacteria probiotics or beneficial bacteria. When he inoculated both samples of urine with anthrax, it flourished in the sterilized urine and did not grow in the beaker of urine with common bacteria. They prevented the anthrax from growing. The population of beneficial bacteria acted as an environmental antibiotic not allowing the anthrax to implant itself and grow and spread. Therefore the best way to prevent infections is to maintain an environment of friendly bacteria. Ayurved recommends freshly made yogurt, made daily overnight, not refrigerated and eaten the next day. first things first

A friends asked me, "Where do I start if I want to do SVA or Shaka Vansya Ayurved". I would start by eliminating the foods that block the vibrational channels. These foods are the nightshade family: potato, tomato, eggplant and bell peppers. Other foods that also block the vibrational or pranic channels are: large beans, soya products, bananas and old left over foods. That is quite a tall order when you are used to eating potatoes with catsup or greek salad or humous or soya milk. A sure way to block the flow of prana is to start your morning with a cold smoothie made with soya milk and bananas. Better to start your day with fruit stewed with a few cloves and some hot cereal. So where do we start. We start slowly. We find substitues for those foods that we eat every day that we eat in greatest quauntity. Lets say potato, how about using yams, sweet potato or taro root instead. When cooking a soup where you would use a lot of potato add other root veggies. I have been cooking ...

colds and flu

How do we protect ourselves from the madness of the media that tell us we must all be immunized or else we will die a horrible death from Swine Flu. Don't you belive it for a minute. Total madness. What needs to be hitting the news is that thousands or probabley millions of children who are developing autism and seizures as a direct result of immunization and its repurcussions. Over the last few years I have been aware of an incredible healer who is treating children with autism using an the SVA approach. You will remember that SVA stands for Shaka Vansya Ayurved. This is the traditional ayurved of Vaidya Mishra's lineage. One of the star pupils of Vaidya Mishra, Dr. Maryanne Teitelbaum, has been treating children with autism and seizures with a dietary and herbal protocol as developed by Dr. RK Mishra. In the last 25 years of Dr. Teitelbaum's practice she has seen these infantile diseases skyrocket. From her practice of 100 patients a day she has a good sense of what is h...
I am back aftering being away from writing for a few weeks. Many directions are calling but here is what came in the early morning. I could feel that movement of the laws of nature toward winter. This October day when the early mornings are dark. It brings a certain level of uneasiness into the core of the body. Yes, take a deep breath and move into the darkness, the silence, that inner world that seems cold and constricted. This is not spring, no new life here. This is death. The death of the green leaves becoming red and gold and then falling and whithering into the earth. The surrender of nature back into the earth. This is a time of looking inward; a time of giving up and giving away. This is the time of endings. The end is coming. There is a sense of finality. No sweeping under the rug, kind of end, but an end that is dissolution and completion. This is the end of the story. Just like in the movies, after the story is over and the credits run and then we see THE END / FIN. You sit...

9 days of mother divine with Vaidya Mishra

Healing comes from the heart and Vaidya Mishra's devotion to the divine mother is something to behold when you spend the 9 days of Mother Divine with him. I was a tranforming experience. ON the last day - Victory day - several of his students spoke about their experiences with various patients. There was so much sharing of wonderful knowlege so it is difficult to decide what to say first. The one that jumps out as most important is the presentation done by Dr. Raskin on nightshade and their neurotoxic effects. I can email you the transcript and journal references if you wish but whether you are eating potato, tomato, eggplant or bell peppers you are creating serious long term toxic effects. More to come

Ghee from yogurt cream

I'm writing from Sunny California while on the Women's Health course with Vaidya Mishra. I thought I would talk about ghee today and the proper way of making it so that it does not elevate cholesterol. Ghee has incredible nourishing qualities for the brain. Vaidya said that if people ate this cultured Ghee from Yogurt it would prevent Alzheimers. That was enough to encourage me to take the time to make the yogurt ghee. We start with organic whipping cream from which we make yogurt, just like making any other yogurt. Once the yogurt is ready you then whip it. I use my Cuisinart. When whipping the yogurt-cream, the friction increases the temperature and I find that dropping an icecube into the whirling yogurt-cream keeps it cool and helps the yogurt cream to turn into butter more quickly. Once the butter separates from the buttermilk, we squeeze the buttermilk out through a cheesecloth and seive. We keep this wonderful buttermilk, called tarka in Sanskrit, which has wonderful pro...
With the changing of the seasons come the challenges to the body/mind. This is a time to be easy and make sure the organs of elimination are getting the support they need. A friend called me in a panic saying that she normally has very regualer bowel movements and now they are not. One ayurvedic traditional therapy is Triphala. Usually taken at bedtime with warm water. However I find that herbs works best when they are infused, so if you crush the tablet(s) and add 1 cup hot water and let them sit for about 2 hours or even do this in the morning and let them sit all day and drink in the evening before bed this usually gives very good results. We have to think of the lining of the digestive tract as a very intelligent and vital organ. It is not just a rubber hose - where things come in one end and go out the other. All the vital good bacteria are doing their excellent job. The lining of the intestines and bowels need to coordinate with all the other functions in the body to know what ne...
Energy healing is coming more into the forefront of alternative healing. I was recently at Banyan book. It's one of my favorite places to go and browse and see where my nose leads me. What caught my eye was "The Encyclopedia of Energy Healing" which decribed the various cultures in the world and their subtle perception of the energy body: everything from auras, chakras, meridians and more. When I got to the section on Ayurved there was no mentoin of marmas which is the term Ayurved uses for the bioenergetic points in the body where prana or life force flows into the body. Maybe a good place to start with this subject is describe a dream of a friend of mine who came to the class on Marmas taught by Vaidya Mishra. In the dream he saw a person stretched out and all over his body were little lights. Shortly after that dream he was guided to the marma seminar. So marmas are points in the body where Prana or Chi flows into the physical body. They are like light switches. The...
The midday meals needs to include the 6 taste. Sour sweet and salty are easy to find in the western culinary world. However bitter astringent and pungent are not as common. Remember this is your biggest meal of the day. Not just a sandwich with one hand on the wheel of your four wheel drive. An easy way to introduce the astringent taste into your diet is to cook lentils. When cooked with a bit of turmeric you have both the bitter of the turmeric and the astringent of the lentils. Add a bit of grated ginger root and you have the pungent taste. Some bitter steamed greens and a grain which is considered sweet in the culinary terminology of Ayurved and your getting close to all 6 tastes. Some salt and a squeeze of lemon or lime over your veggies and there you are - all 6 tastes - Rice, wheat, spelt are sweet, lemon and salt are obviously sour and salty, lentils (red, french and mung are considered the best ones) are astringent and turmeric and greens are bitter, pungent ginger, black pep...
Ayurved is the oldest system of healing and prevention known to man. It has survived many invasions of India and one of the ways was preservation by the mothers in the kitchens of India. Many of the culinary herbs are medicinal. We are now seeing a great deal of scientific research of the antiinflammatory effects of turmeric and it anticarcinogenic properties. Holy Basil recently hit the news because of its ability to prevent Swine Flu. Cumin helps the absorbtion of nutrients. Coriander is a great kidney tonic. Cinnamon helps to balance blood sugar. The list goes on. AT the corner stone of all Ayurvedic healing is the understanding of the importance of the digestive process. Food needs to be fresh and vital, full of prana and properly prepared, delicious, nutritious, and suitable for the person's dosha ( more on doshas later) and the time of day and the season. Lets start with time of day. Breakfast needs to be light as we are just waking up the digestive process. A good way to sto...
When the student is ready the teacher will come. When we are ready to let go of those blocks that prevent the healing energy of the divine to flow through us then the healing starts. Ayurved is an ancient system of healing that has been available to the human race for more than 5000 years. It is the manual that Nature provided for us humans to keep this machine finctioning at its optimum level while we walk this earth. Just as you got a manual when you bought your car that tells you when to change the oil Ayurved provides us with simple methods of maintaining our nervous system in its totality in optimum functioning order.
