Spring is the natural detox time

You may notice that the days are getting longer and we are getting a sense of the approaching of spring.  During the winter cold our shrotas or physical channels and nadis vibrational channels shrink.  There is less flow and more congestion. Slesheka Kapha increases.  As the weather warms up our channels start to open and a natural detox starts to happen.

This is the best time of the year to do a detoxification protocol. The most important principle to remember is that the toxins that have been lying dormant are now going to start moving.  We have to make sure our organs of elimination: bowels, kidneys, skin, lungs are doing their job and also are not overloaded.

Taking Triphala, Haritake (Prakrit or EasyLax from Chandika) to make sure you have a good bowel movement every morning, or even twice a day is essential at this time or actually at any time but now more than ever.

Drinking the hydrating tea described in other posts which contains coriander which supports the kidney elimination to be safe.  The kidneys are full of tiny lit capillaries that can be easily damaged.  I like alternate between Marshmallow Root in the herbal tea and Indian Sarsaparilla as both have different and helpful qualities to help a safe detox.

Using less salt or no salt at least one day a week helps toxin elimination as salt has a holding quality.  And then adding veggies and grain that have a binding effect to the toxins. This binding of the toxins protects the channels from being damaged by the harsh toxins.

Remember that there are the cold clogging toxins called AMA and they need hot and warm spices to eliminate them and then there are the hot burning toxins called AMAVISHA AND GARAVISHA which need to be cooled and bound so they don't burn the channels.  Barley is a grain that is a good binder and all slimy veggies like Okra

I invite you to join a Spring Detox Course offered by Chandika.com that will educate you and support you through your detox process. You will have one on one guidance and videos of Vaidya Rama Kant Mishra and many wonderful food recommendations by his spouse Dr Melina Mishra-Takvorian.  This knowledge will support your food choices and teach you how to do detox safely for the rest of your life.  It is a good investment in your health.😄
